125 Celebrations

In 2009 we celebrated our 125th birthday. We had some terrific events as part of a jolly good three-day party.

13 May 2009 was a Fun Day with the whole school focused on celebrating 125 years (and producing either written, pictorial, creative or performance activity for inclusion in future celebrations). Staff dreamt up some imaginative activities and we all enjoyed a lively and creative day.

On 7 June 2009 – a Sunday afternoon (2pm - 5pm with Pimms... or cups of tea) - Old Fidelians, families and staff were invited to view material from our archives and help identify who is who in pictures, and how they have contributed to our history.

Friday 25 September was the morning when, in assembly, we thanked God for the good things that had characterised our past and that animated our present, and asked for His blessing on our school's future. Then we cut a very large cake, the small daughter of an OF parent blowing out the candles, and sang "Happy Birthday to You!"

On Saturday 26 September we held our 125 Family Fayre where, despite its being a Saturday, the school gates were opened wide to children, parents, friends and families, and a range of family entertainments were enjoyed. The children were all presented with Anniversary Medallions, specially made for us by the Royal Mint. Read all about it!

The Old Fidelians' Lunch took place the next day, 27 September, rounding off our weekend in fine style. Drinks at noon in the sunshine of the courtyard were followed by lunch in the Ashburton Hall (with reminiscences).

St Faith's - The 125 Book and the Anniversary Medallion

Our commemorative volume combines a pictorial survey of life at St Faith’s in 2009 with a lots of fascinating historical information (Fidelian, local, national and global). Much of the content was provided from work produced by the children, reportage of any events or activities that took place during the year and Old Fidelians’ accounts, photographs and biographies.
