Year 3 is the first year of Prep School. Children are normally aged 7 when they join us in September. Roughly three quarters of our children will have moved up from our own Pre Prep and they are joined by a small group of children from other schools.
At St Faith's we strive to identify each child's individual talents and to nurture these whilst ensuring that they have the broad learning and skills they will need to enjoy life as a caring, capable and personable individual.
In Years 3 and 4 children are taught predominantly by their Form Teachers rather than individual subject specialists and they are introduced to the school House system. Belonging to one of our four Houses (Newton, Latham, Chaucer and Bentley)lps to encourage and reward hard work, enthusiasm and commitment as well as establishing relationships that extend beyond the age-based peer group.
Form rooms are located in three long-established buildings on the school site, with teaching for some subjects taking place in the recently-built subject departments which house dedicated facilities.
In Years 5 and 6 the children are assigned a Tutor who cares for their pastoral development and provides a centre point for contact. The pace quickens and each child has an individual timetable with most lessons being taken by subject specialists.
Years 7 and 8 provide the opportunity for pupils to really challenge themselves and excel. As the most senior members of school, expectations increase not just academically but in terms of personal and social responsibility.
