ST FAITH’S – an exciting new addition to the school’s facilities

north

We are delighted to have the sports hall in full operation following its official opening on 27th May 2011.  This project provides a significant enhancement to our facilities for all children at St Faith’s as well as parents and the wider community.  We are proud of this initiative which we believe will help keep St Faith’s firmly at the top of the list of Prep Schools in the East of England.  Our commitment to both academic and cultural excellence remains strong and is further reinforced with these unrivalled facilities to help our children engage and benefit from physical activity.

St Faith’s has an excellent sporting tradition with rugby, netball, hockey, cricket, tennis, rounders, football and athletics the main outdoor games. Basketball, cross-country running and other games are also part of the school’s provision. Our sports programme involves inter-house competitions and a strong fixture list with numerous matches against other schools. The School has a long tradition of both national and international sports tours in a variety of sports. Children regularly compete at national level. We swim at The Leys, and we also use their Sports Hall and Astroturf to complement and extend the impressive facilities at our Latham Road sports field.

Extending our provision on our Trumpington Road site has enabled the introduction of new activities as well as increasing access to the many sports and activities we currently offer.

What do we seek to achieve?

The Sports Hall is exactly that – it is not an additional space for general activities or for exams.  It supports our promotion of health and well-being to children, teaching them team sports, individual activities and the enjoyment and value of physical activity.

The facility offers activity from early in the morning through to the early evening – extending access to non curricular sport for children through clubs, and for staff, parents and the community through workshops, activity sessions and classes outside of our normal school day.

The Sports Hall is designed to enable PE, basketball, badminton, hockey, netball and cricket training as well as dance, informal ball games, gymnastics, kung fu, judo and trampolining.
