Amazon Drone Competition

This week our Year 3 and 4 pupils have been working on their drone designs for the latest Amazon competition. Mrs Oxborough judged all the entries on Friday 26th Map and put forward the St Faith’s winners to Amazon. Congratulations to Harriet B, Jeremy P and Sofia P.

This is a national competition for primary school children from Year 2 to 5. They aim to inspire the next generation of innovative and creative thinkers and to help promote safe drone flying after the huge surge in popularity of these gadgets.

All pupils drew their drone and created a short story to explain what their drone would deliver and why. The brief was to serve a societal or humanitarian purpose. In addition to this they had to include everyday materials into their design and compare the suitability of materials to work out which ones could be used for the purpose of their drone. There will be 12 regional winners across the UK, two runner ups and one national winner who will have the opportunity to travel to the amazing Prime Air lab in Cambridge where their design will be exhibited for a year. Good luck to all our pupils.
