Nigel Helliwell, Headmaster, has recently published an article in Attain, the leading education magazine for parents and staff in the independent schools’ sector.
Engineering has never been regarded as a subject applicable for prep school aged children but, as Nigel explains, the benefits for pupils are enormous.

As Christopher King, Chief Executive of IAPS, states while discussing the tremendous freedom independent schools have in defining their own curriculums: “St Faith’s in Cambridge [who] introduced Engineering as a curriculum subject for all pupils in Years 3 to 8, with every class having a one hour lesson as part of their weekly timetable. What makes this so relevant for today’s world is that engineering is the application of science, maths, design and computing to practical projects.
