First St Faith’s Team Golf Tournament

Last Monday 21 boys and girls played in our first ever St Faith’s team golf tournament at Royal Worlington. This is where the Cambridge University golf teams play all their matches and it is one of the most famous 9 hole courses in the world.

The conditions were similar to this year’s US Masters at Augusta with glorious sunshine, a stiff breeze and lightning fast greens. Following on from learning golf in their PE lessons this year, the Year 7 and 8 children played some stunning shots and holed some tricky putts. There were also some Year 3 to 6 pupils who were invited to play and they have a great future in the game.

The staff at the course told our teachers that the children had represented St Faith’s with excellent manners whilst playing golf with a smile on their faces! All the competitors received a Royal Worlington ball marker as a momento of the day. Mr Rusted would like to thank all the adults who volunteered to coach the teams on the course.

The competition was won with a total of 32 points by Sebi R, Harry G and Hugo B and they were presented with some Royal Worlington golf balls in assembly.

Congratulations to all the players who took part and look out for news of upcoming school golf events!
