Tom Whitford

Tom attended St Faith’s from 1979-1984, where he discovered his love for Rugby.

Having started at St Faith’s in 1979 he joined Cambridge Rugby Club aged 10 whilst continuing his studies and playing for the St Faith’s 1st Rugby team. He then went onto The Leys followed by Hills Road Sixth Form College.

Tom continued to Leeds Met University followed by Cambridge University’s Homerton college to complete his teacher training, all the while, he continued to train hard and played for the University team (Where they beat Oxford too!).

Soon after completing his teacher training, he signed his first professional contract at Richmond Rugby Club in London, where he played for 3 years. Following on from this Tom moved to France to play for Perpignan for 2 years before signing at Toulon Rugby Club playing from 2001 – 2007 before becoming the First Team Manager.

Tom said “I loved my time at St Faith’s, I look back on it very fondly, it’s a great school both for academics and sports and I made some great friends there. I believe St Faith’s gave me a really good start in life, giving myself and my brothers a great grounding.”
