Public Art Collaborations

If you have been along Trumpington Road recently, you may have seen a lot of building works happening at the Nuffield hospital. The Nuffield are building a whole new hospital and throughout the building works they have had a number of hoardings around the building site. They asked our Year 8 students to populate a few of them with their artwork.

Back in July the hoardings boasted some beautifully colourful collage Wyverns, the inspiration of which was taken from the school logo. Those colourful creatures have now found a new home on the school field.

But now the hoardings are showcasing some lovely floral printworks, made when Artist Adam Bridgland spent a day teaching Year 8 extension pupils the techniques of printmaking, including producing mono prints and screen printing and using a water bath to dampen the paper in order for the prints to be transferred.

Pupil Joanna Saunderson said “The printmaking workshop was incredible and we all loved the day. The whole group learnt new skills and new techniques. A BIG thank you to Adam and Mrs Humphrey; the day was fantastic and very memorable.”
