St Faith’s Community Supports 5 Local Charities for Christmas
During the last week of the 2020 Michaelmas Term, the St Faith’s community showed how thoughtful, kind and generous they are. Pupils, parents and staff supported five local charities by donating items and sending cards to those who may be alone this Christmas. Pre Prep gave toys to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, Years 3 and 4 collected food for the Cambridge City Foodbank, Years 5 and 6 collected gifts for Jimmy’s Night Shelter, Years 7 and 8 collected gifts for young people in supported housing with Cambridge Housing Society and Years 5 to 8 made Christmas cards and the staff donated gifts to Age UK.
Head of Outreach, Miss Kennerley, was overwhelmed by the generosity shown by the community when she delivered the items to each of the charities. She reported back, charities were absolutely delighted to have been given such thoughtful gifts and asked me to pass on their sincere thanks and best wishes to you all (the community). 4JB got together and held a virtual auction of much-loved toys and goodies. Together they raised £300 which has been donated to the Cambridge City Foodbank – many thanks to the parents of Eren and Hollie who organised the event and to all the families who took part.
At the end of such a difficult year it is good to be able to reflect on how lucky we are, even though we have all faced challenges, and to take the time to help others who are less fortunate than us.
