St Faith’s Pupils Excel in ABRSM Exams

In June, forty one pupils took their ABRSM music exams in a wide variety of instruments from Horn to Oboe. Of those 67% achieved a Pass, 18 were awarded Merits and an impressive 13 pupils achieved Distinction.

Special congratulations to Alex (flute) and William (viola) who both achieved Merits at Grade 7. This is an incredible achievement for pupils in Year 8, both of whom had also achieved ABRSM Grade 5 theory in order to qualify for the exams.

Of note is that ABRSM Grades 6-8 are the equivalent of an A-level and pupils achieving at this level also receive UCAS points to gain entry to UK universities. Meanwhile Grades 4-5 are equal to Grades A*-C at GCSE. These fantastic results are a direct reflection the quality of music and music teaching taking place at St Faith’s.

We are so proud of all our pupils who work so hard to learn and practise their instruments, and of our dedicated team of music staff who help prepare the pupils so well for their exams.
