St Faith’s U12 Hockey Team Wins IAPS National Finals

The U12 St Faith’s Girl’s Hockey team travelled to Hurstpierpoint College in Sussex on Tuesday 27th November to play in the National Independent Prep School (IAPS) Hockey Championships.

In the group round the U12 girls won 5 and drew 1 game to finish top of their group and qualify for the Quarter Finals.

St Faith’s were drawn against Bishop’s Stortford School in the Quarter Finals and, after a dominant display where they could not quite find the back of the net, a last minute goal saw them through to the Semi-Finals.

St Faith’s played Millfield School in a very exciting encounter in the Semi Finals. The game finished 1-1 after full-time. This meant the game went to penalty flicks for a place in the National Final. The flicks went to sudden death after the initial barrage of 3 were taken leaving a score line of 2-2. Goal keeper Eve managed to save two penalty flicks to safely negotiate St Faith’s way to the Final.

The team saved their best hockey for the final in horrendous weather conditions as they beat Foremarke Hall (Repton Preparatory School) 2-0 to become National Champions.

We are so proud of the girls; they fully deserve their title due to their excellent work ethic and phenomenal team spirit.

Team: Nina J, Eve A, Mya D-E, Emily Y, Polina F, Phoebe B, Claudia N, Carlotta H & Elizabeth H.
