C Cubed Essay Competition Result
As part of the C Cubed programme, St Faith’s and The Leys launched an exciting new Foundation essay competition for Years 7 and 8 pupils – and our young thinkers rose brilliantly to the challenge.
A total of 47 pupils from both schools took part in this new competition, each earning a Participation, Merit or Distinction certificate for their hard work and academic ambition. St Faith’s pupils were congratulated during a Michaelmas term Achievement Assembly.
The standard of entry was impressively high, as pupils explored big questions, referencing their research, and creating clear, compelling arguments. Together entrants produced more than 50,000 words of insightful and original writing, with the most popular essay question being: “If a single tasteless pill taken once a day could meet all our nutritional needs, would it change the world and, if so, how?”
Judging was carried out by Mrs Pritchard, Head of Science at St Faith’s, Mrs Davies, Deputy Head Academic at St Faith’s and Mr Welby, Head of Academic Scholarship at The Leys.
A huge well done to everyone who took part, and special congratulations to the overall winner, a Year 8 pupil from St Faith’s. What a fantastic achievement and a brilliant start to this new academic tradition.
