3-7 Years
This Week at St Faith’s
House Assemblies
Our core school values of Kindness, Community and Excellence resonate daily throughout the school community and our Year 7 and 8 pupils have already begun to demonstrate these values and high standards, taking on responsibilities and duties as role models for younger members of school.
In their tutor time assembly on Monday, the senior pupils were led by inspiring stories from figures including Nicky Moffat, the highest-ranked woman in the British Army. Pupils were encouraged to embrace challenge, learn from failure, and build confidence through courage. The assembly carried the message that success is earned through effort – a lesson we see in evidence daily in our classrooms, sports fields, and creative spaces.
In the Latham House assembly, the 3Rs (Respect for yourself, Respect for others and Responsibility for your actions), which were introduced in the first school assembly of term, were reiterated with an emphasis on the importance of respect for another person, even when their opinions and behaviours may be different to our own.
Year 7 Teambuilding
On Thursday and Friday, St Faith’s organised a teambuilding programme for the Year 7 pupils. This involved land and water based activities at Grafham Water, while on site at school there was a rich programme of outdoor challenges, forest school activities, and collaborative workshops like The Great Egg Drop. From marshmallow engineering to House rounders at Latham Road, the timetable was packed with opportunities to build teamwork, resilience, collaboration and to have lots of fun along the way. Evening activities, including BBQs, games, and quiet reading in Ashburton Hall – created an inclusive atmosphere. After the night camping in tents pitched on the school back field, an appetising breakfast, set the pupils up well for another busy day of teambuilding pursuits.
Here is just a selection of photos that were taken of the activities. A wider selection will be uploaded to MSP in due course.
A Joyful Beginning: St Faith’s Preschool (3+)
We are delighted to announce formally the launch of our brand new Preschool class, a nurturing and inspiring environment where the very youngest learners can begin their educational journey at St Faith’s. We will open our doors to the younger siblings of our current families in November, followed by the wider launch in January 2026.
This exciting development marks a new chapter in our commitment to providing a continuous, high-quality education from the earliest years through to Year 8. Rooted in our school’s three core values of Kindness, Community, and Excellence, the Preschool will offer a warm, stimulating setting where children aged 3–4 can explore, play, and grow with confidence – all within a safe and caring environment that celebrates each child’s individuality.
Children will enjoy a rich variety of activities including storytelling, music, creative arts, early numeracy and literacy – not forgetting adventures in our dedicated Early Years outdoor classroom and the Wild Place, our Forest School provision.
We are now accepting applications. Places are limited, and we encourage interested families to book on to one of our ‘pop-in and play’ open events Preschool (Age 3-4) – St Faith’s Cambridge, or to speak with our Admissions team to arrange a private tour, admissions@stfaiths.co.uk Tel: 01223 229421.
St Faith’s Parents’ Association (SFPA) Coffee Mornings
The St Faith’s Parents’ Association (SFPA) plays a vital role in the life of our school community. The SFPA is made up of parent volunteers, who generously give their time to organising wide variety of social and fundraising events. This term’s highlights include the popular Scavenger Hunt for the younger children, which will take place on Saturday 4th October, Fireworks Night on Friday 7th November, and the Christmas Fair on Friday 5th December. For ticketed events such as Fireworks Night, we advise early booking to avoid disappointment, as such events often sell out quickly.
In addition, the SFPA coffee mornings which take place in the Michaelmas and Summer terms, provide an informal and hospitable opportunity for parents, both new and longstanding, to meet over a hot drink and some delicious pastries. The dates are advertised in the school calendar, and they are usually timed to coincide with the Breakfast Club for that year group.
On Monday, it was a pleasure to welcome so many Year 7 and 8 parents and on Wednesday it was the turn of Year 3 and 4 parents. Earlier this morning, there was a very special welcome to some of our new Reception families. I do hope that you are beginning to feel very much part of our community and that your children are settling happily into their new routines and developing new friendships too.
Bridge the Gap
Last Sunday six members of staff joined together representing St Faith’s to take part in the annual ‘Bridge the Gap’ event, in aid of local charities Arthur Rank Hospice and Romsey Mill. Over 2,000 walkers set off from Parker’s Piece and followed a route around seven of Cambridge’s beautiful colleges.
Chariots of Fire
This Sunday a team of St Faith’s runners will be taking part in the annual ‘Chariots of Fire’ race around Cambridge city centre. The race will be in support of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, which provides vital services to seriously ill children across the UK and we wish everyone taking part the best of luck.
Prep Open Morning, Tuesday 21st October
As we look forward to the term ahead, this is a reminder that our next Open Morning event will be held on Tuesday, 21st October, as you will have seen on our banners displayed outside school.
This event is predominantly for families who wish to join St Faith’s in Years 3 to 7 in September 2026, however we will also be happy to welcome families who are looking ahead to 2027, or even 2028 entry. If you have friends or colleagues who may be interested in joining our community, please do encourage them to sign up via our website: Open Mornings – St Faith’s Cambridge . Early registration is strongly advised.
And Finally…
Next Friday 26th September will be our whole school photograph. It is a significant occasion as it captures a moment in time and records for posterity our school community. Your kind support on that day, encouraging your children to be as smartly presented as possible will be much appreciated. Before then, whether you are taking part in Sunday’s Chariots of Fire race, or giving encouragement from the sidelines, or finding time and space outside the city, I wish you all a happy and restorative weekend.
With all best wishes,

Crispin Hyde-Dunn
