The Library
Our school library is at the heart of school life, providing a welcoming, inspiring, and inclusive environment for pupils from Preschool through to Year 8. It is a place where children can develop a lifelong love of reading, discover new interests, and explore a wide range of books, resources, and learning opportunities. The library’s collection of over 9,500 books is carefully organised to meet the needs of every age group, ensuring that all pupils can access materials that challenge, support, and inspire them.
From the earliest years, children are encouraged to enjoy stories, rhymes, and books that help build language, imagination, and curiosity. As pupils progress through the school, the library supports their academic learning by providing access to fiction and non-fiction linked to the curriculum. Weekly class visits give pupils opportunities to browse, borrow books, and develop independent library skills.
The library also plays an important role in promoting a strong reading culture throughout the school. Pupils are encouraged to share book recommendations, take part in reading challenges, celebrate events such as World Book Day, and meet visiting authors. Our Year 8 prefects can also apply to become Pupil Librarians to help in the library at breaktimes. These experiences help to foster enthusiasm for reading and enable pupils to discover the enjoyment and benefits that books can bring.
More than just a place to borrow books, the library is a calm and welcoming space where pupils can read, study, research, and reflect. We are proud to provide an environment that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning, supporting every child on their journey from Preschool to Year 8 and beyond.
