School Trips

An extensive schedule of day and residential trips to places of interest in Cambridge, throughout the UK and abroad supports class work and fuels cross-curricular pollination.

Recent residential tours have included:

South Africa Trip

During the Easter holidays, 35 pupils and 6 members of staff visited our partner school, Makukhanye, in South Africa. During the time there, our hosts played hockey, netball, football and chess matches against the St Faith’s teams and our music ensembles performed for their new audiences. Much to the delight of our pupils, this was reciprocated by traditional African dance and music performances.
Further sports fixtures were keenly contested against other primary schools – Glenvendale, Eastern Province, Curro Durbanville Primary School and Somerset College.

Highlights of the trip included a zip wire canopy course en route to Knysna, a safari adventure, a visit to the World Heritage Site of Robben Island, including a bus tour of the island and a fact-filled guided tour of the prison (including Nelson Mandela’s cell), a visit to the 2Oceans Acquarium in Cape Town and a guided tour around the Kayamadi township, where the children dropped off reading books at one of the local school libraries, had lunch, played the drums and enjoyed another set of musical ensembles.

Liverpool Music Trip

In February, 45 pupils and 5 staff members went on the 2024 Music Trip to Liverpool. Amongst the highlights of the trip, the children visited The Beatles Story Exhibition, had a guided tour of The British Music Experience and played an evening concert at St Peter’s Church in Heswall, followed by a reception. They also performed in the Lady Chapel of Liverpool Cathedral twice and played a lunchtime recital followed by Evensong. All of this will be topped off by a visit to the Museum of Liverpool.

Rome and the Bay of Naples

As part of Enrichment Week, Year 8 travelled to Italy to immerse themselves in the Classical World. As well as Rome, they also visited the Roman sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum, as well as climbing Mount Vesuvius and taking a boat trip to the island of Capri.

Barcelona, Spain

Also as part of Enrichment Week, Year 7 put their Spanish linguistic skills into practice by speaking to local people, as they enjoyed visits to La Sagrada Familia, the Dali Museum, and the Barça immersive tour, amongst other highlights.

Kinver Residential Week

Year 6 enjoyed a few days ‘under canvas’ and the activities included orienteering on Kinver Edge, canoeing, bivvy building and a zip wire exercise. The trip wouldn’t have been complete without the marshmallows roasted on an open fire and hot chocolate.
