Leadership & Responsibilities
From the Pre Prep through to Year 8, children are given opportunities to lead and serve the school community. In the Pre Prep, pupils act as energy monitors and are responsible for ensuring that lights and computers are switched off when they leave the classroom.
Pupils have the opportunity to stand for election to the Eco Committee from Year 3 and the School Council from Year 5 upwards. They can apply to be school librarians from Year 6 onwards.
Eco-Committee
The Eco-Committee is made up of elected pupils from each tutor group who have an interest in green issues. The Committee meets formally twice per term over a working lunch to discuss projects at School such as reducing food waste, Fairtrade and recycling. St Faith’s is a Green Flag School, and we are assessed regularly to ensure that we meet the criteria for the award. The Committee selects three areas of development and designs projects for the whole school to participate in. The Committee raises money through various initiatives, for example a Summer Snack Sale and a Second-Hand Book Stall.
School Council
The School Council is made up of Years 5-8 pupils elected from their year group. The pupils serve for one year, or two years if re-elected. The School Council representatives act as a voice for the children. Over the years, they have implemented initiatives, such as procuring playground equipment, changes to school lunches and charity fundraising. They have also established a School Council ‘Trust Fund.’ The idea of this is to have money in reserve so that they can respond promptly to any disaster in the world. The School Council meets approximately every two weeks at lunchtimes.
