Pastoral Care
Charities & Outreach Work
We aim to help our pupils understand that they are in a privileged position, and encourage them to involve themselves in school fundraising events and learn about the work of the charities that we support. The pupils support a variety of local, national and international charities.
An annual joint House charity fundraiser supports our partnership school in South Africa, Makukhanye Primary School. We help the children to learn that they can make a difference in their community by raising awareness, volunteering their time, donating items and fundraising.
We share our facilities, teaching expertise and equipment with local partnership primary schools and enable our pupils to take on leadership roles within these programmes. We have established links with older residents in our community and have shared musical performances and written letters to them which have proved to be enriching for all involved.
In Year 8 pupils have the opportunity to take part in the ‘Charity Challenge’ where they receive £5 start-up funding from the school and start new ‘businesses’ which trade for five weeks. All profits generated are donated to the two charities which the children have chosen to support
Charities that we support include Arthur Rank Hospice, Tom’s Trust Meseret for Women and Power2Inspire.
