St Faith's Prep

The Library

At St. Faith’s we are very lucky to have a beautiful, well-equipped and dedicated library, which is overseen by our two librarians and a team of Year 7 & 8 pupil librarians, who assist with the running of the Library during breaktimes, create displays and organise book events throughout the school year.

Every pupil at St Faith’s visits the Library at least once each week during lesson time and with over 11,000 books there is plenty of choice to suit everyone! Under the guidance of their teacher, the Librarians and with recommendations from their peers, they may choose up to two books to borrow. The Library is also available for use by children in years 3 to 8 at break times and after school most weekdays.

Pupils in Years 5 and 6 enjoy completing their Reading Journals and may collect Library House Tokens along the way. In Years 7 and 8 pupils take on the challenge of Book Bingo, whereby they complete various challenges to earn tokens.

We regularly celebrate the power of reading through a variety of annual events, including visiting authors, illustrators and storytellers chosen for different year groups. Our annual World Book Day celebrations see us share the pleasure of reading through a range of activities and author/illustrator visits. The Library also welcomes a Book Fair each summer where pupils and parents take great pleasure in selecting new additions to their bookshelves at home and in the Pre Prep parents are invited to join their children in the Library for a book-themed event.

All children in Years 5 to 8 are expected to have a reading book ‘on the go’ and we expect it to be with them in School every day.

My favourite after-school activity is Library Club because it's a great break at the end of the day and gives me the opportunity to read my favourite books.
