Physical Education

The aim of the PE Department is to develop excellent levels of physical fitness and co-ordination.

There is an emphasis on full participation and enjoyment, and as a result the Department includes a great variety of activity including specialisms in swimming, gymnastics, trampolining, short tennis, basketball and athletics.

The programme of study is designed to nurture ability in every pupil and to encourage each to achieve their potential as often and fully as possible. Many pupils take part in competitions at school, regional and national level, where the School enjoys an excellent reputation and considerable success. Our outstanding success in the past academic year includes two Boys Individual Gymnastic National Champions, National IAPS Trampoline U13 Boys Champions, Milano Team Trio Gymnastic U13 Mixed National Champions and six pairs of children took part in the National BSGA Sports Acrobatics finals. Twenty-four children attended the National Athletics finals with tremendous success including winning U12 Boys Discuss and 2nd place in U12 Girls 70M Hurdles, a further 5 pupils finished in the top 6 in disciplines including Shot Putt, Javelin and Relay. Six pupils attended the National IAPS Triathlon Finals and 3 children swam at the National IAPS Swimming finals.

I am so proud of the children’s achievements in PE: very few Prep schools in the country can rival our sporting records!
